A Life of Lasts and Firsts

Hello December!

A life of Lasts, and a life of Firsts…

These pictures represent our last Christmas in our first home.

On Christmas Day 2020 my husband joked that this may be our last Christmas in our first home.

He had just applied for a new role and completed the first round of interviews.

We stood on faith that he would land the job and anticipated the call for another interview and next steps with eagerness.

Fast forward, we are in our new home, in a new town where our first Christmas will be celebrated.

And on today, my family and I will celebrate Advent to commemorate the arrival and birth of Jesus Christ.

My aha-moment when thinking about Advent is that we are anticipating the arrival of something great!

Can I get an Amen?!

Just as we celebrated our last Christmas in our first home, we stood on faith and anticipated something great.

This is what Advent is all about – the anticipation of something great.

As mothers, we witness so many Lasts and Firsts in our children’s lives and sometimes our hearts feel void and we think, “I shoulda, coulda, woulda…” did something different in my child’s life.

But let me encourage you-

Dismiss those shoulda-coulda-woulda thoughts and allow the Lasts to be meaningful ones and anticipate the greatness of what the Firsts will bring.

Now-

Let’s celebrate Jesus!
